Summer is right around the corner! During this time of the year, we all try to find ways to get healthy and take care of our body. Today, I’d love to share a few tips to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle that you can easily implement today. Yup, today! I like to keep it simple.
I can’t stress enough the importance of getting good sleep. Generally speaking, we need at least 6-8 hours of sleep to recharge our body’s batteries in order to keep us going throughout the day. If we fail to do that, not only it will significantly influence our hormones and potentially leads to stress-eating, but it will also affect our brain function as well as athletic performance.
Also, if you’re trying to lose weight, getting quality sleep is absolutely crucial. Studies show that sleep-deprived individuals have a bigger appetite and tend to eat more calories. So keep that in mind next time when you catch yourself scrolling your phone late at night when you know you need to wake up early the next day. Turn off all your electronic devices and remove all the distractions to put yourself in a peaceful environment to get some good sleep.
Summer is prime time for outdoor sports, vacations, BBQs, and beach days in the sun. While you are enjoying those activities and the hot weather, it’s easy to be hit by dehydration. Here are a few of my favorite ways (and my summer must-haves) to help you be prepared for the sunlight.
(i) Drink lots and lots of water
I know it sounds boring but your body needs it! And you will thank me later if you make sure your water intake is on the right track! If you really don’t enjoy drinking water (I mean...who does?), feel free to add some fruits into your water. I like to use lemons and blueberries. This small hack makes water so much more enjoyable and refreshing.
(ii) Make sure your skin is protected as well! A good sunscreen is your new best friend. I love using any of our Arbonne face creams or make up with spf, especially our CC cream. Not only it’s affordable but it stays on for the entire day and I don’t need to worry about it.
(iii) Don’t forget your food. Your food choices account for approximately 20% of your daily fluid intake and are therefore a major contributor to your overall hydration status. Many foods that are in season in the hot summer months – such as melon, tomatoes and strawberries – are naturally rich in water, carbohydrates and minerals, including those all-important electrolytes.
I know it’s hard to exercise regularly. But showing up means you’ve already won half of the battle. Grab a friend or two and hit the gym together if you need some accountability. Do what you love instead of following what others are doing. For example, if you really hate running, don’t do it. Who says running is the only way to get fit and be active? There are SO MANY options out there and I’m sure you will find one that you actually enjoy.
So there you have it. I hope you find these tips helpful and I want you to know that at the end of the day, you are beautiful and strong! And real transformation comes from the inside out. Understanding that beauty is found in your heart, not a mirror. As you push through your goals, be patient with yourself and know that it doesn’t happen overnight. Your physical appearance shouldn’t be the motivation of you trying to be healthy. Rather, you should tell yourself you want to be healthy because you want to take care of your body and you are able to.
